At Play in the Cosmos

From September 2015 until the end of 2016, I worked on a space exploration learning game called At Play in the Cosmos for PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and WebGL. The game is a supplemental material to be included in a Norton astronomy textbook. There are two major parts to the game: a story driven exploration mode, and an scientific concept reinforcement mode.

Most of my work on the project focused on developing the story mode. In this mode, the player travels around the Universe observing different astronomical phenomenons and uncovering an ancient alien civilization over the course of 20 missions.

I developed the majority of the game systems for this mode, including the mission structure, player systems, UI, achievement, inventory, localization framework, and more. In addition to the system work, I was also responsible for scripting many of the narrative missions.
